Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a huge plus when it comes to college applications and scholarships.  Check with your local YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Nursing Homes and Day Care Centers for volunteer opportunities.  The website below have volunteer options as well.

Volunteers of America

In 2006, 140,000 volunteers were involved in Volunteers of America programs.  Our programs are very diverse from one community to the next and so are our volunteer opportunities.  A few examples of where volunteers are working are in our housing facilities for disabled, the elderly, and families providing activities, meals, parties and other services.  Some work at our children and day care centers assisting the teachers and staff with the children, while others are working with offenders as they transition from prison back into our communities.  Volunteer groups from businesses, faith communities, schools and other groups work throughout our programs as well as individual volunteers.  Some of our volunteers prefer short-term projects while others work weekly or monthly helping others.
